Experience Scuba
Bretton Woods Recreation Ctr July 2019 SCUBA course
Instructor: Ray Blanchard, NAUI Instructor 10718
This course is a NAUI SCUBA Diver Course and will take approximately three weeks to complete. Upon completion of all course requirements, the students will be certified as SCUBA divers and qualified to dive on their own in situations similar to those that they’ve experienced during training. IMPORTANT: certification is earned based on student performance of diving skills and safety practices.
Prerequisites:
1) Good physical and mental health especially for heart, lungs, ears and sinuses. If the instructor has any concern about the student’s health status, a physical exam by a licensed physician may be required before the first pool session on SCUBA.
2) Students must be 15 years of age or older. Students from the ages of 10 to 14 may be accepted into the course depending upon their emotional maturity, ability to comprehend the training activities and parental approval. Upon completion, these students will receive a Junior SCUBA Diver certification requiring them to dive in the company of a parent or guardian.
Course phases:
1) Academics lessons and testing will use the NAUI eLearning program which requires internet access to complete. Course introduction, Q&A sessions and coordination sessions will be held prior to each pool session.
2) Confined Water training will be conducted at BWRC pools to teach equipment use and safe scuba diving techniques.
